Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals

If the Inventory terms of listing for a chemical only contains chemical identity information, the chemical can be manufactured or imported into Australia without telling us first, if the Australian importer/manufacturer is currently registered with us. The chemical may be subject to other Australian Government and State or Territory Government regulations.

If the Inventory terms of listing for a chemical also contains a specific information requirement, defined scope of assessment, conditions of introduction or use, or if the chemical has restrictions on importation and manufacture, you must check each one and comply.

Importers and manufacturers also have obligations to:

• keep records about the chemical (which need to be provided if we ask for it) according to requirements under the 'listed introduction' category; and
• submit an annual declaration at the end of the registration year.
